This is where the whine is coming from. 

Hello Everyone,

I recently bought a 1978 Mercedes 450 SLC, 80100KM.  The car is amazing, except, central locking doesn't work:crybaby2:.  No seat arrestors, door, trunk or gas cap auto lock :(  I read up one the forum and saw all the possible reasons (had a mini heart-attack)  So I didn't really bother doing a proper diagnosis, just left it and accepted it.  Recently; however, I noticed that a strange mechanical whine comes from the engine, after turning the key, one or more positions in ignition.  So I checked-up on it, and this mechanical whine which sounds like a little electrical motoring barely turning, and struggling.  Could this be my issue? I'm 99% sure it is.  So my question is, where can I get a new pump? How many hours will installation take, and could I manage installation with only minor technical experience?

Is it the reason central Locking Won't work?
